Associate Marriage & Family Therapists

Our Associate Therapists are registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and practice under ongoing supervision by a AAMFT licensed therapist. This option offers skilled, thoughtful, relational care with the ability to choose your therapist, at a lower fee than licensed clinicians, while benefiting from the guidance of senior, licensed clinicians with decades of experience.

Is Working with an Associate Therapist Right for You?

Clinical Support
AMFT stands for Associate Marriage & Family Therapist. All Associate Therapists have earned a Master’s degree and are registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Each Associate completed their required practicum year at our clinic and was invited to continue their training based on the quality of their clinical presence and work.

Associate Therapists receive ongoing clinical supervision and consultation from our licensed supervisors. Our supervisory team brings decades of clinical experience and advanced training, including certification through the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

This option may be a good fit if you:

  • want thoughtful, relational therapy at a more accessible rate

  • value collaboration and growth-oriented work

  • feel comfortable working with a therapist who is earlier in their career and closely supported.

Fees
Sessions with an Associate Therapist are offered at a lower fee than sessions with licensed clinicians.

  • $160 for a 50-minute Individual session

  • $175 for a 50-minute Relational session

A limited number of sliding scale options may be available based on need and availability. You are welcome to inquire directly with the therapist you are interested in working with.

You may prefer a licensed therapist if you:

  • are seeking the highest level of clinical experience

  • want long-term continuity with a fully licensed provider

  • are navigating particularly complex clinical needs

If at anytime you’re unsure which option fits best, you’re welcome to contact us and we can help you decide.
